USA vs Colombia
The international friendlies continue this morning as the USA face another Latin American opponent. It’s been an up and down ride for the US, defeating Brazil 2-0 only to lose to Mexico 1-0 a month ago. Colombia, meanwhile, have featured in two gutsy games against Venezuela and Argentina, remaining undefeated in both. Head coach Arturo Reyes has also named all 12 of his World Cup players in the squad, which shapes up as a tough test for the United States at home.
Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants
Just when it looks as though the Giants might be on their way to a win, they go and muck it up with a few bad errors on all three sides of the ball. Special teams was a disaster last week for New York, as was Eli Manning, and the defence in the final few minutes of the loss against Carolina. The Eagles have hardly been special themselves, but their 8-2 record against the Giants certainly is. Either way, this game will be sloppy, but the Eagles’ second-rank run defence are more than enough to stop Saquon Barkley and company today.
Illawarra Hawks vs Melbourne United
United’s title defence tips off this evening in what could be a tight test against a very resilient Illwarra side. Melbourne were kind to punters last year, winning five of their last seven games as the away underdog and covering the line in each win. This could come right down to the wire, but stick with United as the favourites.
