Cincinnati Bengals vs Baltimore Ravens
The Bengals run defence was a big surprise last week, shutting down the Colts in a convincing 11-point victory. Cincinnati’s own run game was equally as brilliant, led by promising running back Joe Mixon. The second-year standout lashed the Ravens for 93-yards last year on the way to the Bengals victory in the final week of the season. Expect Cincy to ground and pound their way to a win today at handy odds.
Cronulla Sharks vs Penrith Panthers
History shows Cronulla are 4-1 as the home favourite against the Panthers. Last week’s close call against the Roosters will have the Sharks hungry for a bounce-back though, and if they can find a way to disrupt Penrith’s precise passing early, Cronulla’s more experienced premiership players should shine through.
Hawthorn vs Melbourne
The Hawks are looking to avoid their second straight-set exit from the finals in the last three years, but it won’t come easy against the Dees. Although this game is being played at the MCG, this is technically an “away” game for Melbourne, which spells good news for punters. The Demons are 6-1 as the away favourites this year, and if big Max Gawn can win the clearance battle, this fairytale story is likely to continue.
